Need a good, simple to use touchpad and keyboard app for your iPhone or iPod touch? Read out review about Air Mouse Pro!

One of the apps that sprung me into wanting an iPod, was the Air Mouse Pro. I bought my iPod back in November, so naturally I only just remembered this app and believe me; I’m pleased I did.

The Air Mouse Pro, developed by RPA Tech, is a simple to use (Though not lacking features) application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. To use it, it requires:
If you notice, in the image to the right, you are initially loaded up with the keyboard, and a Touch Pad, much like the one on most laptops. You also notice the little taskbar in the middle. This allows you to use the keys CTRL, ALT and the WINDOWS button. To the right of this taskbar, you have 4 keys.
The first key with “Aa” on it is the keyboard button. The next, with a “#” gives you a big number pad that covers the entire screen, along with the “Delete” button, and the “/ * – + =” and the “Enter” keys. The “F” button gives you a list of the F1-F12 keys, as well as the arrow, PgDown, PgUp, Esc, Del, Home and Enter keys.
The final button, a downwards pointing triangle/arrow is probably the smartest, and my favourite part of the application. Depending on what program you have open as your active window, this screen will change giving you the most important buttons for the open window. For example, I have currently open Google Chrome (As I am writing this) And the application is giving me the ability to use the Back Page, Next Page, Home, Search, Refresh, Stop and Favourite buttons! Not to mention New Tab, Window, Open, Zoom out and Zoom in! It’s truely a work of art.
If you shake the iPhone/iPod, then the keyboard will disappear, and you will have the whole screen to use as a touch pad. You’re given a nice little scroll wheel to the bottom, and even a nifty little sensor to tell you how good the connection is!
Finally, you should notice to the top of the screen, there is a little button in the top right, and top left corner. The one in the left is your settings, and the one in the right turns this app into a literal “Air Mouse”.

Touching the top, above the scroll wheel and holding your finger down allows you to just move the iPhone/iPod and move the cursor on the screen. It can be a little jumpy, and will take a bit of practice to get used to it, but it’s pretty good for bigger screens, and should you be doing a presentation, or working on a large screen.
Now, If you flip the iPhone/iPod to it’s side, the touch pad and keyboard also flip. This is good if you’re going to be using the iPhone/iPod as a touch pad, for it gives you more area to move the cursor, and gives you a better landscape keyboard to use. It’s not good enough for a permanent keyboard, but can be useful for putting things in quickly.

My personal opinion on this app, is that it is brilliant. Whether you just want to get a bigger touch pad, or want a simple and quick app that can help you manage your computer and it’s tasks, then this is for you! And for the stunning price of £1.19, I’d definitely recommend downloading this.
Conor, Out.
